Understanding Quietness & Privacy Scores

How the 1–5 scoring system works and what each score means for your camping experience.

Quietness Score

- 5 — Complete solitude. No road noise, no neighbors, no aircraft. True backcountry silence.

- 4 — Very quiet. Occasional distant noise but generally peaceful.

Note: Quietness can vary by season and day of week. Check recent condition updates for the latest.

Privacy Score

- 4 — Very private. Minor visibility from one direction when approached closely.

- 3 — Moderately private. Partially visible but has screening on most sides.

- 2 — Limited privacy. Visible from multiple directions or near trails.

- 1 — Open. Clearly visible from road, water, or adjacent sites.
